Enjoying college life in Dumaguete
Now in second year studying towards a degree in Mass Communications, Haresh Frederick (Derick) has taken to college life in Silliman University in
Dumaguete like a duck to water. He plays basketball actively and enjoys the camaraderie of his basketball buddies. Dumaguete is a far cry from the congestion and pollution of Cagayan de Oro where he came from, when talking about these banes of urban life. In fact one might be able to say that Dumaguete is a growing city much like Cagayan de Oro was a few years ago but, without the noise and the bumper-to-bumper traffic.
A number of his old classmates in Cagayan de Oro have also enrolled in Silliman University which might lead one to think that
Dumaguete has an edge over the bigger city. That many terms are common to both cities like "pachada" seems to make them alike in more ways than one.
Derick goes to church often and does some
meditation.
